Avoiding paradoxes in multi - agent competitive routing q

چکیده
Strange behavior may occur in networks due to the non-cooperative nature of decision making, when the latter are taken by individual agents. In particular, the well known Braess paradox illustrates that when upgrading a network by adding a link, the resulting equilibrium may exhibit larger delays for all users. We present here some guidelines to avoid the Braess paradox when upgrading a network. We furthermore present conditions for the delays to be monotone increasing in the total demand. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

User-based Vehicle Route Guidance in Urban Networks Based on Intelligent Multi Agents Systems and the ANT-Q Algorithm
Guiding vehicles to their destination under dynamic traffic conditions is an important topic in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Nowadays, many complex systems can be controlled by using multi agent systems. Adaptation with the current condition is an important feature of the agents. In this research, formulation of dynamic guidance for vehicles has been investigated based...
متن کاملEfficiency of a multi-objective imperialist competitive algorithm: A bi-objective location-routing-inventory problem with probabilistic routes
An integrated model considers all parameters and elements of different deficiencies in one problem. This paper presents a new integrated model of a supply chain that simultaneously considers facility location, vehicle routing and inventory control problems as well as their interactions in one problem, called location-routing-inventory (LRI) problem. This model also considers stochastic demands ...
متن کاملA New Competitive Approach on Multi-Objective Periodic Vehicle Routing Problem
This paper presents a novel multi-objective mathematical model of a periodic vehicle routing problem (PVRP) in a competitive situation for obtaining more sales. In such a situation, the reaching time to customers affects the sale amount therefore, distributors intend to service customers earlier than other rivals for obtaining the maximum sale. Moreover, a partial driver’s benefit is related...
متن کاملAn Imperialist Competitive Algorithm and a Mixed Integer Programming Formulation for the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem
The Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), a famous problem of operation research, holds a central place in combinatorial optimization problems. In this problem, a fleet vehicles with Q capacity start to move from depot and return after servicing to customers in which visit only ones each customer and load more than its capacity not at all. The objective is to minimize the number of used vehicles and t...
متن کاملA New Multi-Objective Inventory-Routing Problem by an Imperialist Competitive Algorithm
One of the most important points in a supply chain is customer-driven modeling, which reduces the bullwhip effect in the supply chain, as well as the costs of investment on the inventory and efficient transshipment of the products. Their homogeneity is reflected in the inventory-routing problem, which is a combination of distribution and inventory management. This paper considers a multi object...
